Dr. Bradford Nelson M.D., Pharm.D. is a compassionate, caring and highly experienced urologist at Spokane Urology who specializes in robotic and minimally invasive surgery especially as it pertains to urologic cancers. Dr. Nelson first completed a Doctor of Pharmacy degree ranking in the top of his class at Idaho State University. He always knew that he wanted to be a physician and used the degree to springboard into medicine entering University of Washington through the Idaho WWAMI program. He served his first year of medical school at Moscow/Pullman and would often visit Spokane. This is where he fell in love with the city and region. He then completed his medical school education at the University of Washington in Seattle graduating with High Honors and in the Alpha Omega Alpha society which is a distinction held only for the top 10% of the medical school class.

After UW he entered residency at one of the most prestigious urology programs in the nation Vanderbilt Medical School in Nashville Tennessee. Over the next five years he he had extensive training with some of the best urologists in the world and pioneers of the field and honed his skill and passion for treatment of all urologic conditions especially urologic cancers and robotic/minimally invasive surgery. He received several awards during residency including best resident teacher as well as publishing and presenting over 20 studies relating to various urologic diseases.

After residency Dr. Nelson knew that he wanted to be in Spokane permanently and returned in 2006 to join Rockwood Urology. For the next 16 years he would bring his training to bear in the inland Northwest taking care of tens of thousands of patients. He served that entire time as the section head for the department of urology and chairman of the Rockwood robotics committee. He has been interviewed in a number of regional magazines, been the speaker at a number of regional health care conferences and has been on multiple local TV shows in his fervent effort to take better care of the Spokane region’s urologic needs. He now joins Spokane Urology and is excited to bring that same passion for quality patient care for many more years to come in the inland Northwest.

Dr. Nelson is extremely adept with the DaVinci robotics platform having completed over 2000 robotic surgeries in his career. He offers the regions’ highest level of expertise with nerve sparing robotic prostatectomy, robotic simple prostatectomy, adrenalectomy, partial and radical nephrectomy, nephro-ureterectomy, female prolapse and a host of other disease states.

Dr. Nelson believes that all patients should be empowered and able to fully understand their urologic condition and he endeavors to explain this thoroughly to patients in terms that they are able to understand. He is well known for his easy going down to earth manner.

Dr. Walker completed his six-year urologic residency at the UC San Diego Medical Center, Rady  Children’s Hospital-San Diego, and VA Medical Center, La Jolla, California. During his training, he was able to develop proficiency in treating all aspects of urologic disease, including male and female voiding dysfunction, minimally invasive treatments for enlarged prostate, urinary incontinence, urinary stone disease management and prevention, and uro-oncology (prostate, renal, bladder, testicular cancer). 

After his residency program, he relocated his wife and three young children to South Bend, Indiana, to start his private practice at South Bend Clinic, where he served as Surgery Department Chair. While on staff at Memorial Hospital/ Beacon Health System, he initiated the Da Vinci robotic surgery program and served as Chairman for the Department of Surgery. During his final years of residency training and early years in practice, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve, proudly serving active duty and reservists. He also was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Indiana University Medical School in South Bend. 

Dr. Walker has interests in comprehensive men’s health, given significant issues in men’s reluctance to seek timely care for very treatable disorders. He has vast experience in treating erectile dysfunction (ED) and providing vacuum erection device and penile injection training, ED medication monitoring, penile prosthesis placement, and advanced treatments in regenerative therapy for ED and Peyronie’s Disease (i.e. Shockwave therapy).

He also achieved a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology in 2013.

Since 2008, Dr. Voelzke has lived in the Pacific Northwest. His prior academic practice was devoted to reconstructive urology at the University of Washington/Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Voelzke connects with a broad network of physicians across the Pacific Northwest to provide surgical and medical care for men and women with complex urologic reconstructive issues. He routinely treats patients with issues such as urethral stricture disease, stress urinary incontinence, Peyronie’s disease, and genital reconstruction following skin malignancies.

He helped develop an early and successful program for robotic-assisted urologic surgery utilizing the da Vinci® robotic system at Sacred Heart Medical Center. He continues to offer both open and laparoscopic approaches for a wide range of urologic malignancies.

Being outdoors is just one of Dr. Mikkelson’s hobbies away from the medical office. He also spends much of his valuable time with his wife and two daughters.

About Dr. Michael Maccini, MD

Michael Maccini, MD, is a well-respected and accomplished urologist offering a range of personalized services for men and women at Spokane Urology. Dr. Maccini is known for prioritizing patient education, comfort, and quality of life.

Dr. Maccini was raised just north of Spokane and graduated from Mount Spokane High School before attending Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He then graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from medical school at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont.

Dr. Maccini completed his six-year urologic residency at the University of Colorado Hospital, Denver Health Medical Cenver (a Level I trauma center), Children’s Hospital Colorado, and the VA Medical Center in Denver.

During his residency, Dr. Maccini received training in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery on the da Vinci® surgical system for both benign and malignant conditions, including pelvic organ prolapse. He also spent extensive time working with two reconstructive urologists and has interest in the surgical management of urethral stricture disease.

Dr. Maccini treats a wide spectrum of urologic conditions, including urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, kidney stones, and prostate, bladder, and testicular cancer. He has a special focus in his practice on providing the full spectrum of treatment options for enlarged prostate (BPH) symptoms, including the minimally invasive UroLift® System, which offers men an excellent alternative to medications and more invasive surgical procedures. Dr. Maccini is the first UroLift Center of Excellence in the Inland Northwest and currently the only physician in the Spokane area offering the UroLift procedure in the office setting, providing a truly minimally invasive treatment option.

Dr. Maccini views patient understanding and education as the foundation of effective and personalized health care. He strives to make a positive impact on patients’ quality of life and general wellness.
