Lisa A. Perryman, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is the founder and president of Colorado Colon & Rectal Specialists in the Denver metropolitan area of Colorado. Dr. Perryman is board certified in colon and rectal surgery and is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She provides one of the best comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services, for a variety of acute and chronic conditions, such as: hemorrhoids, pilonidal disease, anal fistulas and abscesses, anal itching, anal warts, anal skin tags, and rectal bleeding and pain.
Prior to founding Colorado Colon & Rectal Specialists, our very own proctologist, Dr. Perryman, served as the chief of general surgery at a Salt Lake City, Utah, hospital. She also participated in clinical immunology research at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes in Aurora, Colorado, and at Amgen, Inc., in Boulder, Colorado. She affiliates with AdventHealth Hospital in Parker, Colorado, HealthOne in Lone Tree, Colorado, Centennial Hospital in Centennial, Colorado, and UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital.
Dr. Perryman earned her medical degree and a master of science degree in pathology from the Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in the top 5% of her medical school class and earning numerous honors and awards. She went on to complete a seven-year residency in general surgery at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis before finishing her fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Perryman makes herself available to patients 24/7, 365 days a year. She takes a personalized approach to treatment and care, encouraging patients to partner in the management of their health conditions. Dr. Perryman is also highly regarded for her colonoscopic adenoma detection rate, which is 27% higher than the national benchmark and increases annually.
Recognized as a top performing physician and colorectal surgeon in both quality patient care and cost containment, Dr. Perryman was selected as a Premium Program Tier 1 Physician by UnitedHealthcare. She meets cost-efficiency standards and engages patients in the health care decision-making process.
Her practice was awarded the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPi) for excellence in value-based and patient-centric health care services. Fewer than 50 have completed TCPi in Colorado, and nationwide, less than 16% of practices participate. Dr. Perryman was also selected by 9NEWS/NBC to launch its March Colon Cancer Awareness efforts, along with Buddy Check 9. She discussed colorectal cancer risk factors, its symptoms, and the importance of early detection.
