Experienced colorectal surgeon Tamara Merchant-McCambry, MD, provides specialized care to patients 16 and older at Lone Star Colon & Rectal Surgery and Clinical Services of San Antonio, located in San Antonio, Texas. She treats conditions ranging from hemorrhoids and pilonidal cysts to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and rectal prolapse.
Dr. Merchant-McCambry completed her undergraduate studies at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, earning a double major in biology and sociology/anthropology. She was a George A. Haggerty Award for Academic Excellence winner and voted into the Lambda Alpha National Honor Society of Anthropology.
For her medical degree, Dr. Merchant-McCambry attended the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers School of Biomedical and Health Sciences) in Newark. She later completed her internship at New York City’s Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in the Bronx.
Dr. Merchant-McCambry moved to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, just outside Chicago, for her general surgery residency. She completed a colorectal surgery fellowship at St Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in New York and further fellowship training at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s McGovern Medical School.
Dr. Merchant-McCambry is board-certified in colon and rectal surgery and is affiliated with Northeast Baptist Hospital, Baptist Medical Center, North Central Baptist Hospital, and St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital. All are in San Antonio. She is a member of the Texas Medical Association (Bexar County), the American College of Surgeons, and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

Jorge L. Rincon, MD, FACS, offers his vast experience in effective weight-loss surgery and other surgical procedures to residents of San Antonio and the surrounding communities at Rincon Surgery, located in the Sonterra neighborhood.
Dr. Rincon performs general surgery, focusing on the abdomen, esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, thyroid gland, gallbladder, and bile ducts. He also specializes in hernia repair and diseases involving the skin, breast, and soft tissue.
A participant in more than 2,000 weight-loss surgery procedures, including lap band and gastric bypass, Dr. Rincon truly cares about his patients and focuses on providing excellent outcomes. Dr. Rincon graduated from medical school at the Central University of Venezuela and performed his internship in Caracas. After a transitional year program and a general surgery residency at the Hospital of Saint Raphael, a major teaching affiliate of Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, Dr. Rincon participated in a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, and a laparoscopic and bariatric surgery fellowship at the WISH Center in Downers Grove, Illinois, and Renton, Washington.
Dr. Rincon currently serves as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Southwest General Hospital and the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital, both in San Antonio. He also serves on several committees at Baptist Medical Center, also in San Antonio.
Board certified by the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Rincon is also an active member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgery. He has given numerous presentations and published on the topic of weight-loss surgery.

Janea Lampkin, is a certified physician assistant that has worked under these vascular surgeons since 2015. She graduted from UTHSCA with a Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Duties. She specializes in vascular surgery and wound care. She loves providing care to South Texas in every capacity possible and finds much joy in impacting the lives of her patients.
Janea Lampkin is available to her patients in the inpatient setting, outpatient setting and telemedicine and is ready to helo in any way she can. She serves the vascular patients of Baptist Medical Center, Mission Trails, and Methodist Hospital since 2015. She was awarded the Humanitarian’s award of Baptis Medical Center in 2023. She was the second physician assistant in history to receive the award and first African American Physician Assistant.
She is a wife and mother of two children and enjjoys spending time with family every chance she can get. She also enjoys crafting and is allergic to being outside.
Milad Mohammadi, MD, is a vascular surgeon at Texas Cardiac and Vascular Specialists in San Antonio, Texas. He is a native Texan, born and raised in Houston. He attended the University of St. Thomas, where he majored in chemistry while working full-time as an EMT in the greater Houston area.
He found his way to San Antonio for medical school at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center where he also completed his fellowship in vascular surgery. Between medical school and his fellowship, he spent 5 years in Lubbock, Texas, completing his general surgery residency at Texas Tech University.
Dr. Mohammadi began serving patients in South Texas after completing his surgical training. He has a passion for innovative vascular treatments including the latest advances in endovascular therapies in the treatment of carotid disease, aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial and venous diseases. He is an advocate of community education and enjoys giving presentations on vascular diseases to providers and patients in the South Texas region.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, cycling, running, water activities, and motorsport racing.
Dr. Mohammadi is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in vascular, endovascular, and general surgery.
Demetrios Macris graduated from The University of Chicago and then attended medical school at Emory University in Atlanta. He completed his general surgery and vascular surgery fellowship at the university of Tennesse at Memphis where her served as chief resident. Dr Macris has been in private practice in San Antonio since 1992 where he has been treating pt with vascular disease with both vascular surgery including both endovascular and open techniques.
He is Board certified in Vascular Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has served as Chief of Surgery for the entire Baptist Hospital system, chairman of the credentialing committee and helped established the first hospital based vascular lab to receive ICAVAL accreditation in Texas. He was instrumental in establishing cooperation between vascular surgeons, podiatrists, wound care specialists and prosthetists. Dr Macris is a recipient of The Humanitarian of the year award.
He was one of the founders of The Prosthetics Foundation which helps amputees to obtain a lower extremity prosthesis. Dr Macris specializes in aortic surgery, complex lower extremity revascularization, and dialysis access. Limb salvage, particularly in diabetic patients, is at the center of his practice. Fluent in English and Greek.
Dr. English was born and raised in Northern California, where he began his college career. He subsequently moved to South Florida to complete his undergraduate education. He graduated from Southeastern College of Pharmacy in Miami with a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy.
At the University of Mississippi, Dr. English completed his internship and residency in general surgery. He then completed a two-year vascular surgery fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist, Medical Center in North Carolina. His vascular surgery training, emphasized complex, vascular arterial disease, with specialized training in the emerging field of endovascular surgery.
Dr. English has been in vascular surgery private practice for over 20 years in San Antonio. Because of his specialized training and experience, he has the advantage of diagnosing and treating a wide range of arterial disease. His focus on endovascular techniques allows him to treat complex arterial, blockages and aneurysmal disease through minimally invasive means.
Dr. English is married with three adult boys. When he is not working, Dr. English enjoys snow skiing, mountain biking, flying and hiking. He also plays bass guitar in his church band.
Dr. Jesus Matos has been sharing his extensive vascular surgery expertise with patients throughout the region since 2015 when he moved to San Antonio. Before practicing in TCVS Dr. Matos was an assistant professor of surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in the Texas Medical Center.
Dr. Matos has a clinical interest and passion for limb salvage but he is specially trained in treating all vascular conditions including leg circulation problems, carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysm, varicose veins and dialysis access. Dr. Matos specializes in advanced Endovascular procedures and open surgery. A native of the Rio Grande Valley, Dr. Matos obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Medical degree from Indiana University and did his General Surgery residency in Indiana university. For his vascular training he attended the Baylor College of Medicine and stayed as faculty after his training before moving to San Antonio.
Dr. Matos received a very prestigious NIH T32 Research grant and has writtennumerous research publications and given many presentations on the effects and treatments of vascular disease.Dr. Matos enjoys spending time with family and anything related to the university of texas athletics. Dr. Alina Sholar is blazing a trail in female-led health care businesses, owning and leading Serenity Medical Centers, Skin Science Soul, and Sage Practice Solutions. At Serenity Medical Centers, Sholar’s leadership style is centered on personal and professional development to give her team the resources to expand their careers. Through these businesses, and in honoring her own professional upbringing in biomedical sciences, medicine, surgery and business, she mentors young women in STEM and medicine and passes on her business acumen to women around the globe to build their own startups.
Dr. Sholar is the first physician in her family, but she knew even in her elementary years what she may become. At age 7, she predicted she would be a doctor- either for people or animals. After receiving a full-tuition merit scholarship from the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation in Orange, she received her BS degree in Biomedical Sciences with Magna Cum Laude honors from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University in December 1994.
She started medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1995. During her medical education, it became apparent that a surgical specialty was her calling. She did surgical research in an esteemed scientific laboratory at University of Texas with her culminating in publication in a prominent scientific journal, Perfusion. She was there awarded the prestigious Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Award and Achievement Citation for Women in Medicine, along with other meritorious honors and accolades like the Robert Wood Johnson Fellowship Award in medicine. She graduated from University of Texas Medical Branch in 1999 then went on to her surgical residencies.
She completed a full five-year residency, including Chief Resident, in General Surgery at the University of Louisville in 2004, where she was awarded Best Resident Instructor and Mentor by the students of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Sholar published in the Annals of Surgical Oncology during her General Surgery residency.
She continued her study of surgery by completing an additional residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Tennessee, serving as Chief Resident in 2006. Her plastic surgery training included not only aesthetic surgery, but also dermatology, non-invasive and laser aesthetic treatments, reconstruction related to cranio-facial surgery, microsurgery, hand surgery, burn surgery, and breast surgery. She received multiple awards and publications in research areas such as the efficacy of treatment at Tertiary Care Wound Centers and the advanced reconstructive techniques required after major facial trauma and infections in journals including the prestigious Annals of Plastic Surgery. During this time, she also had the privilege of spending time on mission trips in the Republic of Panama where she repaired cleft lip and palates and assisted in complex reconstructive craniofacial procedures for children. She was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 2008.
She has additionally received training and certification from the World Health Organization in Operational Planning regarding preparedness and response for COVID-19, as well as from Johns Hopkins for Epidemics & Outbreaks.
