Dr. Hawes went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts, Biology Minor, Chemistry, Psychology from University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS. She then earned her Doctor of Medicine from The University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2017. Dr. Hawed then completed her internship and residency in general surgery at the Medical Center Navicent Health in Macon, GA.
Timothy Alexander Abston, MD, is a skilled general surgeon practicing at Lakeland Surgical Clinic, located in Jackson, Mississippi. As a Jackson-area native, he considers it an honor and a privilege to share his surgical expertise with individuals from his hometown.
After graduating from Saint Joseph Catholic High School, Dr. Abston went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Science from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine from The University of Mississippi School of Medicine. Dr. Abston then completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Dr. Abston takes a special interest in performing minimally invasive endocrine and colon surgery and uses laparoscopic and robot-assisted techniques whenever possible.
He is currently a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.

David Carroll, MD, is a skilled obesity medicine specialist at Lakeland Surgical Clinic, PLLC, in Jackson, Mississippi. He joined Lakeland Surgical Clinic in January 2024, and is excited to welcome new and returning patients.
Dr. Carroll is a 1988 graduate of Texas Tech University’s School of Medicine and completed his surgical internship and residency at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Dr. Carroll graduated with honors from medical school and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He later moved to Jackson in 1998 and opened a private practice. He has enjoyed personally training dozens of providers over the years in general and bariatric surgery.
Dr. Carroll is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and is a member of the Obesity Medicine Association and Mississippi State Medical Association. He is on staff at Baptist Health Systems, St. Dominic Hospital, and Merit Health River Oaks, where he conducts clinic on a weekly basis. He also works closely with three local hospitals to care for and provide weight loss surgery through their accredited bariatric clinics.

Steven J. Patterson, MD, is an experienced general surgeon practicing at Lakeland Surgical Clinic, PLLC, located in Jackson, Mississippi.
The son of a family practice physician, Dr. Patterson is a native of Clinton, Mississippi, and attended Clinton High School. He completed his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University before earning his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1994. He completed his surgical residency there in 1999.
Recently, Dr. Patterson obtained certification in stereotactic and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies and became a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He has recently been certified in hidden scar breast cancer surgery and completed ASCO Cancer Genetics Program. He specializes in treating an array of conditions affecting the breasts, including mastitis, cysts, benign and cancerous breast lumps, and high-risk patients. His mission is to help alleviate the fears of his patients, and their families, while guiding them through the treatment process.

Pat H. Scanlon, Jr, MD, is one of the capable and experienced surgeons practicing Lakeland Surgical Clinic, PLLC, located in Jackson, Mississippi.
Dr. Scanlon is a native of Jackson and completed his undergraduate studies at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. While attending Ole Miss, he spent a summer working in the operating room at Lakeland Surgical Group, where he developed an interest in surgery and meaningful, lasting relationships with some of the surgeons.
After attending Ole Miss, Dr. Scanlon went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1994. He then completed his surgical residency at the Carraway Methodist Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama, in 1999.

Jonathan Adkins, MD, is a skilled bariatric surgeon, leading the bariatric team at Lakeland Surgical Clinic, PLLC, located in Jackson, Mississippi. Dr. Adkins is a native of Biloxi and is currently the only fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon in Central Mississippi.
Dr. Adkins completed his undergraduate education at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi, before earning his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine here in Jackson. He completed his surgical residency at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Danón Garrido, MD, is a board-certified vascular and endovascular surgeon who specializes in providing advanced and comprehensive preventive and interventional care for patients who are dealing with any type of vein or artery condition.
As one of the lead physicians at Advanced Vascular & Vein Associates, the first outpatient-based vascular practice in Central Mississippi, Dr. Garrido serves patients from communities in and around Flowood, Mississippi, including the Greater Jackson metropolitan area.

Rishi A. Roy, MD, is a co-founder of Advanced Vascular & Vein Associates. He is a vascular and endovascular surgeon. Dr. Roy is committed to the comprehensive care of his patients. He provides the full gamut of vascular services and interventions.
Dr. Roy graduated from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, in Jackson, Mississippi.
Following his formal education, Dr. Roy completed his surgical residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi He was later accepted into a competitive Vascular Surgery Fellowship program at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Dr. Roy has also held numerous leadership roles throughout his medical career. Past positions include Fellow Representative to the Patient Experience Planning Committee at Current University of Virginia Health Systems as well as Administrative Chief Resident of the Department of Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
In addition to his leadership during his medical career, Dr. Roy is a dedicated philanthropist who has devoted time volunteering in his community for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and youth and government programs. He currently serves on the board of the Mississippi Museum of Art and on the board of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.
Outside of work, Dr. Roy is an avid outdoorsman and loves to travel. He enjoys fishing and sailing.
