Dr. Patching earned his medical degree at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, and finished his general surgery residency at the UC Davis Medical Center. Dr. Patching’s bariatric program was the first in United States to earn certification through the American Society for Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery.
Dr. Patching's center takes a preventive approach by helping patients avoid diseases instead of simply treating them when they arise. For example, bariatric surgery can reduce the risk of potentially fatal cardiovascular and liver diseases.

“Dr. Robertson is a very serious individual. However, I like that in a doctor as I get more out of them than I do with light-heartedness. My surgery went extremely well, and although I had been given a prescription for oxycodone, I didn't have to use any of it as there was little to no pain afterwards. The follow-up exam went very well and while my activity is still limited, I feel confident that everything was successful.”

“I had a left inguinal hernia for about 5 years. It wasn’t a day without wearing hernia belt almost for 24/7. I was extremely nervous to even think about surgery but there is nothing else you can do to help yourself but through this surgery. I was Blessed to meet Dr. Chen as my surgeon 3 months ago for consultation .He was very friendly , also very calm and very good listener though and not much of a talker however I could sense right away his confidence just in his presence. I don’t know how to explain it but I just felt I’m in good hands. On December 3 rd I finally had my surgery . All the stuff were so nice to me. Nurse Melinda you were very nice and I appreciate you. Then the whole team Zack, Admire ( Best Anesthesiologist Ever) and of course the Legend Dr. Chen. Took them an hour to do robotic laparoscopic surgery on me. I was in and out so quick and I couldn’t believe that it took me so many years of fear and bad quality of life to go through just one hour of painless surgery lol. Well guess what? I walked same day around my room, next day like a Champ and 3 day like I didn’t even have a surgery. Only took ibuprofen and nothing else. No swelling, no bruising no pain you can’t handle. Pain was like at level 5 first day , and next couple days like 3 out of 10. I slept like an Angel from day one. IM FOREVER GRATEFUL TO YOU DR.CHEN… You really changed my Life. I feel like a normal person again. No words can explain how Blessed I am that you were the one to do it, cause I had the Best outcome I could ever imagine. You are the Best and God Bless you ”
