The son of two physicians, Dr. Patel originally studied biochemistry before graduating from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia. He completed a fellowship and residency in interventional radiology at Michigan Medicine and a residency at Riverside Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia.
Dr. Patel has co-authored publications on topics including interventional radiology-operated endoscopy, interventional radiology-operated cholecystoscopy, gastroduodenal and pancreatic surgical techniques and imaging, post-operative colon and urinary diversion surgical techniques and imaging, imaging of presacral masses, and endovascular thrombolysis for extremity frostbite.
Among his honors and awards, Dr. Patel is the recipient of the American College of Radiology’s Radiology Leadership Summit Scholarship, the Michigan Society of Interventional Radiology Resident Research Award (First Place), and the ACR Gold Merit Award.
Today, Dr. Patel provides care for new and existing patients dealing with medical issues such as peripheral artery disease. He emphasizes the need for medical knowledge, imaging skills, and mental openness when interpreting imaging results.
