Avonny Bennett received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University. She obtained her Masters of science degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore as a certified registered nurse anesthetist and her doctorate in nursing  from Barry University. She earned her post-Masters certificate in psychiatric nursing from Herzing University.  Avonnny Bennett also serves as a first reader for doctoral students at Barry University.

She also achieved a post master’s certificate as a family nurse practitioner (FNP) at Barry University and obtained a master’s degree in nursing science from Florida Atlantic University (FAU). She received accolades while she was a doctoral student at the University of Miami (UM) when she was one of the few chosen for the Vitas Fellow Scholarship Award as well as the Aryn Rothfield Memorial Scholarship Award. In 2017, she was inducted in the Sigma Theta Tau by the University of Miami International Honors Society Chapter. She has worked in clinical practice for over 20 years.
