I am a graduate of the internationally renowned McLean Hospital of Harvard Medical School, and possess additional specialty training in geriatric psychiatry from the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, WA.
I approach my work from an existential and humanistic perspective that attempts to integrate the biological, developmental, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of your life experience. With nearly 30 years of clinical, research, and teaching experience at some of the finest institutions in the country, I believe firmly that best outcomes are achieved through a combination of talk therapy (psychotherapy) and psychoactive medications (psychopharmacology). Unlike most practices, the duration and frequency of your visits will solely be determined by the appropriate level of clinical care required, not insurance payment considerations. The initial visit (and more, if needed) will be purely consultative.
Psychiatric nurse practitioners fill the need in the nation's mental health care system for a biopsychosocial approach to managing the care of individual's diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder. Combined treatment of psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and psychosocial interventions have been found to be an effective approach in treating individuals. Building a trusting relationship, respecting patients as individuals, providing for patient safety, and promoting patient's biopsychosocial health and patient care are the concerns of a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
“My experience as Dr. Rossi patient was very good. He always listened to what I had to say about how I was feeling whether good or bad and would suggest possible solutions. I considered him a very good doctor.”

“It's great to find a medical practitioner that listens to patients. I do not have the expertise or experience that Leah LaRussa has, but I know what I feel like and struggle with. It's nice to work with someone that takes my concerns and walks me through different solutions.”
“Dr. King really took the time to listen. He didn't take my previous diagnosis at face value; he took the time to understand my personal symptoms. He explained the functions of medication and went over side effects. I know that finding the right regimen can take a while, but Dr. King has a game plan for me. I feel confident in him. For the first time in a very long time, I feel hopeful. Thank you Dr. King!”

“Dr. Cornelius is woefully incompetent and dismissive. I would not recommend him to my worst enemy. I have had terrible side effects from the medications he has prescribed me and he refuses to listen to any feedback on that, let alone give medical advice on how to come off of the medications. Not to mention, multiple times I have come in requesting a referral or any information on gene testing. He told me on my visit today “you’ll have to figure that out” and basically ended the 30 second visit.”
