Dr. Nicholas is passionate about providing care for patients with severe mental illness and those in crisis. He began practicing inpatient psychiatry at McLaren Bay Region in 2011 and he continues to provide care for patients on the behavioral health unit and also on the medical floor as a part of the consultation liaison service. Dr. Nicholas also assists and supervises in the care of patients at the partial hospitalization program and geriatric psychiatry unit at McLaren Bay Region. He provides leadership as chairperson of the psychiatry department and Medical Director of the of the behavioral health unit. In addition to his other roles, Dr. Nicholas also supervises medical students and residents on their psychiatry rotations as clinical assistant professor of psychiatry through the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University.

I have always been interested in Psychiatry and Mental Health Care. Before I entered Nurse Practitioner School, I was instrumental in setting up and managing a Geriatric Psych Unit at Hurley Medical Center.
Having attended several major Universities in Michigan, and holding many differing health care positions in my past, I have a wide breadth of knowledge from which to provide evaluation, diagnosis and prescribe psychopharmacological interventions.
My role as a Nurse Practitioner at Effective Psych Care, is to provide care for people with acute episodic psychiatric illnesses. I also expect to provide a high level of professional monitoring for people with chronic mental health illnesses.
I firmly believe that in addition to pharmacological interventions, people with psychiatric illnesses need to be seeing a counselor, and need a relationship with a Primary Health Care Provider.

Dr.Parashar is double board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine respectively.He takes pride in his extraordinary skill set that allows him to administer a unique diagnostic assesment to each individual based on specific their genetic profile and life experiences.
