Keenan Smart, MD, was born in Oklahoma City, so it thrilled him to open his psychiatry practice, Summit Health and Wellness Center, in Norman, Oklahoma. He’s board-certified in general psychiatry and has advanced specialty training in child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Smart looks forward to working with families and treating patients of all ages, but he has a special interest in caring for the mental health of those in the transitional ages of 16-25.
Dr. Smart received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, then entered the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City. After graduating with his medical degree, he completed his general psychiatry residency at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine in Tulsa.
During his residency training, he was honored to receive two awards: the Junior Clinic Resident of the Year, an award given to the resident who excels in clinical practice, and the Benjamin Rush Award for students who excel in psychiatry.
After relocating to Portland, Oregon, Dr. Smart completed his fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Oregon Health and Science University. He subsequently received certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Smart serves as an attending physician at Heartland Behavioral Health Services in Nevada, Missouri. He has published several articles and presented at the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry annual meetings.
In his spare time, Dr. Smart enjoys traveling, good food, and live music. He’s a big Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma City Thunder fan and often goes to games. He’s very excited to work with patients, helping them achieve their mental health goals.
