After several years working in cardiac nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital and NYU Medical Center, Kim returned to school completing a master's degree in Nursing from the University of South Florida.

She completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree specializing in psychiatry from Frontier Nursing University in Kentucky.
