Michael Schmerler, MD, is a double-board-certified internal medicine physician and neurologist at Riverhills Neuroscience, providing high-quality neurology care to people in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Crestview, Kentucky.
Dr. Schmerler brings more than 40 years of experience to the practice. He began his career at Northwestern University in Chicago, earning his undergraduate degree, and obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
The following year, Dr. Schmerler completed an internal medicine internship and residency and a neurology residency at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Onassis A. Caneris, MD, is an interventional pain management specialist at Riverhills Neuroscience in the Norwood area of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is double board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Caneris received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine in Cincinnati, before completing his fellowship in interventional pain management at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He also served as an anesthesia instructor at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Caneris completed his residency in neurology at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. He specializes in interventional pain management and spine treatment, including discography, radiofrequency lesioning, epidural steroid injections, and nerve blocks.

Dr. Hayes completed his doctoral degree in osteopathic medicine at Des Moines University, Osteopathic Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He also completed a neurology residency at St. John Detroit Oakland Hospital in the Michigan State University System. In addition, Dr. Hayes attended a Master’s degree program in health and humanities and completed a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
