I have twenty-six years of nursing experience and other thirty years in healthcare. As a master’s prepared graduate specializing in Mental Health and Family Practice, I am well versed in wholistic and integrative care. My hope is to work towards implementing psychiatric care with a primary care focus. Professionally, my practice combines the philosophy of the medical home model, allowing me the ability to treat patients struggling with daily life issues in a humane manner.
Dr. Tsappis is a board certified physician with specialty training in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. He was raised in a rural area of northern California. After graduating from medical school he moved to Vermont for specialty training in general psychiatry and then to Pennsylvania for his child and adolescent psychiatry training. During his final year of training he served as chief resident for the training program. In addition to his work here at Family Psychiatric Care Dr. Tsappis has been involved in clinical care in the outpatient clinics of two major health systems in the Boston area, consultation to a local specialized preparatory school and integrated care at a large pediatric practice. He has provided invited presentations to local, national and international audiences.
I provide a safe environment coupled with active listening to establish a trusting rapport with my clients. I use evidence based practice to treat the identified diagnosis and meet my client's specific needs. I attended school at California State University Long Beach. I have been practicing as a nurse practitioner, in several settings, for 5 years. I have 30 years of clinical experience and was first trained in healthcare at LAC/USC level 1 trauma center allowing me to develop efficient assessment skills, effective critical thinking and a compassionate bedside manor. I encourage patients and families to participate in their treatment plan.
