We were so lucky to find Dr Hsia! My spouse had been diagnosed with open angle glaucoma and his pressures were high 20's and uncontrolled . It took some research , but we found Dr Hsia and learned he performed SLT . Once I found DShow morer Hsia, things improved right away . He is the best you can find ! Today my spouse is 2 yrs post SLT and his pressures were 12 in both eyes ! 12! Thank you for saving my spouses eyesight Dr Hsia. We owe you so much
I saw Dr Hsia because my previous eye office closed. I was very impressed about the new location. My appointment was on time and Dr was concerned about my eye pressure which had not been addressed previously. He did a procedure Show morethat lessened the pressure on my eye. On my follow up visit my pressure was good and I don’t have to put drops in my eyes everyday anymore. I’d call that a successful visit to this new Office and Doctor.
Yen Cheng (Joey) Hsia, MD, is an experienced provider at Diablo Eye Associates in Walnut Creek, California. He is a native of the Bay Area and completed his medical school at the Case Western Reserve University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor. He completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and was awarded the prestigious Heed’s fellowship. He completed an additional glaucoma fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.
After his training, Dr. Hsia served as the assistant professor of ophthalmology at UCSF and the medical director of the UCSF Berkeley outpatient center. He is excited to be part of Diablo Eye Associates and be able to serve the patients in the East Bay and beyond. Dr. Hsia is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hsia specializes in cataract and glaucoma surgeries. His expertise encompasses complex cataract surgeries, intraocular lens-related complications, including lens exchange and secondary intraocular lens, traditional and novel glaucoma surgeries, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries, and complex anterior segment surgeries and reconstruction. He was the first surgeon at UCSF to perform numerous novel glaucoma surgeries and artificial iris implantation. Dr. Hsia has published numerous research manuscripts and book chapters for a glaucoma textbook. He is a frequently invited lecturer for regional and national meetings.
In his free time, Dr. Hsia enjoys cooking, snorkeling, scuba diving, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Hsia is always outstanding and he was yesterday. My only issue was with the person that did the prelim on me prior to seeing Dr. - she could value with a class on customer service, attitude.
I highly recommend Dr. Hsia. He provides excellent care and knowledge. He listens to my questions and patiently responds to them. He has been helping me with glaucoma and a scratch cornea.

I saw Dr. Hsia several years ago when he was still a fellow at UCSF. I happened to get an appointment with him again, and it was a wonderful experience. It was my first time seeing Dr. Hsia. I felt he took time for me, asked appropriate questions, took interest in me, explained things well, and I felt valued. At the end of my. At the end of the exam, he asked me if I had any questions he could answer and I said no.
I’m always satisfied whenever I make an appointment with Dr. Hsia. He explains in detail my case and makes me feel comfortable. Even the rest of the staff are very accommodating.
Dr.Hsia and his team are exceptionally welcoming, making me feel comfortable during my examinations. Dr. Hsia took the time to go over my results with me, and we talked about all the tests I had completed at the facility. I was able to ask questions, and each staff member generously devoted their time to me without any rush, maintaining a professional yet friendly attitude throughout. Any apprehension I had about eye surgery disappeared because 1. Dr. Hsai took all the time I needed to answer my questions and explain my options (more than once). And 2. The results were almost immediate. It has only been 3 days since my second eye’s cataract replacement, and I can already read and drive without glasses. Also, just one week after the first eye’s surgery, the eye pressure was normal and I no longer needed glaucoma medication. I am confident that I will receive the same result at my post-op appointment next week.
