Got questions for
Yasaman Mostajeran, PhD?
Healing happens in the context of a therapeutic relationship between the patient and the therapist. This connection provides the foundation for attending to the problems and entails a dyadic commitment. Part of this process entails unraveling and integrating the unconscious with the conscious as well as reuniting the body and the mind. Through this process, the therapist supports the patients to hold their unbearable emotions and through this empathic holding, ultimately the patient can let go of their strong feelings. After a successful treatment, the patient could internalize the therapist’s holding function as their own.
Yasaman earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and her pre-doctoral and postdoctoral trainings have been in psychodynamic psychotherapy working with both adults and children. After earning her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University, she did her clinical work in various settings including outpatient mental health clinics, family resource centers, schools, and multicultural centers treating various disorders and conducting psychoeducational and process groups. She is currently finishing up her Fellowship in Reiss Davies Child and Family center. She also integrates mindfulness in her practice, and she is part of Mindfulness Meditation Teacher training.
