Thomas Powell, MD, is a physician who specializes in orthopedic surgery. He diagnoses and treats patients at Powell Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He is also affiliated with Brookwood Baptist Health, serving the Birmingham metro area and surrounding cities. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a diplomate of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Dr. Powell was a four-year football letterman at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, where he was first-team All-American his senior year. He enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with his family, and participating in music and mission opportunities through his church.

I was billed for a service that I did not receive. When I contacted the billing office, they just insisted they billed correctly and ignored my concerns. I will not be going back as I feel this was very unethical billing.

Dr. Powell is very easy to talk to. Takes his time and answers questions thoroughly. Doesn’t rush you into any decisions about treatment plan. Office staff is friendly and helpful.

I requested the appointment online and someone called me the next morning to fulfill the request. When I arrived at the office, the receptionist checked me in immediately, and the rest of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Powell was very caring and concerned, and explained the treatment plan and how it would help. He was very knowledgeable and offered excellent advice. I recommend Dr. Powell and this practice to others.
