Tariq Hilal, DO, MS, is a sports and spine physician practicing at South Coast Sports and Spine Medicine in Los Alamitos, California. His mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to patients living throughout Southern California suffering from musculoskeletal and spinal pain conditions.
Dr. Hilal completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California Irvine, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in biological sciences. He then went on to study at Drexel University College of Medicine, where he earned his Masters in Medical Sciences in 2008. Dr. Hilal earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 2012. He completed his subsequent internship at Mount Sinai South Nassau and his residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He completed an interventional spine fellowship in 2017 under the tutelage of Dr. Christopher Huston who serves as the spine consultant for the NBA's Phoenix Suns.
At South Coast Sports and Spine Medicine, Dr. Hilal takes a conservative, life-style centered approach to treating back pain, neck pain, and sports injuries. Amazing doc, takes the time to explain everything. No stupid questions. When you’re with him, you are his focus. He’s not in a hurry to see that next patient. Front office staff amazing - really has the patients needs as their focus. Can’t imagine my health in the hands of another doc.
I have been seeing Dr. T. Hilal's office since early 2023 for lower back pain which he has helped me with back shots and physical therapy. I just recently started seeing him for arm pain that he diagnosed as tennis elbow. He prescribed an elbow support and physical therapy. I trust Dr. Hilal's opinions on diagnoses and how to function in daily life. His staff office staff Jade and Brizza are the sweetest to interact with. They greet you by name and make you feel so relaxed and comfortable. Jade and Brizza are also professional and organized whether it is setting up your next appointment or treatment. I would definitely recommend Dr. Hilal to family and friends.
