Board-certified pediatric dentist Steven Petruzzi, DDS, provides high-quality dental care in a welcoming, fun environment. Through Desert Kids Dentistry in Phoenix, Arizona, he aims to create a stress-free practice where children enjoy their dental visits and look forward to upcoming appointments.
Dr. Petruzzi was born and raised in Palm Springs, California. He graduated from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California, and received his dental degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
After dental school, Petruzzi attended a General Practice Residency through Brown University at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. He then completed his Pediatric Dental Training at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Having enough of the cold weather and snow, he moved to Phoenix to get back to the desert and hot weather. After working for a few years, Dr. Petruzzi was ready to open his own office.
Being a true kid at heart, he knows having fun is a top priority. It is his goal to make the dental visit fun and enjoyable. At Desert Kids Dentistry, Dr. Petruzzi emphasizes preventive care. He offers preventive visits and six-month checkups as well as comprehensive first visits for children after their first tooth erupts.
Dr. Petruzzi is married to his wife, Selena, and has three children, Benjamin, Caraline, and Alison. He stays active in the community by coaching youth sports. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, obstacle and trial races, anything sports-related, and spending time with his family.

Always an easy experience for kids!

The whole environment is inviting. My 10yr. old son is at ease when here. Like some kiddos, he doesn’t like the dentist, but Dr. Petruzzi makes sure he’s comfortable. The technicians are very thorough and explain the process for ease and comfort. I love that!
I love this dentist office they're always so nice to me. They don't hurt my mouth. They talk me through what they're doing all the time and I really enjoy going in there. I'm not scared they always make me feel comfortable and they're super nice and I also like the way the office is decorated
Emily is a great assistant. The office was friendly and efficient when making appointments to fit my child's needs. Dr. Petruzzi is very nice and made sure that my child had a great and positive visit.

My daughter had a pressing dental issue and they were able to see her that same day and do the procedure needed that same day as well. The dentist was very kind and talked with my daughter to make her feel comfortable.

My son had an appointment on Halloween. They had a skeleton staff with just a hygienist (I wish I remembered her name) and Dr. Petruzzi. They did so to give the other staff the opportunity to spend time with their little ones on Halloween… thoughtful. She was dressed as Luigi and he was dressed as Bowser from the Nintendo game. My son was 1 of like 4 appointments that day. They’re effort for just 4 appointments I thought was endearing. When my son and I left he said, “That was the best dentist visit I’ve ever had.” Effort is rare these days.
