Soquel (pronounced “So-Kell”) Schafer, PA-C, is a board-certified physician assistant practicing at Colorado Springs Urological Associates, PLLC, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Originally from Northern California, Soquel graduated from the California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, California, where she received her undergraduate degree. She then attended Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, California, where she received her master’s degree in medical science in the physician associate program.
While she finds all areas of urology interesting, she gives special emphasis to female-related urinary complaints, BPH, urinary stone care, and hormonal replacement therapy management. Soquel knows a patient’s time is precious, and she works hard to promote a supportive and positive patient/provider interaction by listening to concerns in their entirety.
Before becoming a physician assistant, Soquel worked as a physical therapy aid, caring for elders with memory loss, and as a behavioral instructor for children with Autism.
When Soquel isn’t working, she loves to backpack, bake (and more importantly, eat) bread, take overland trips in an old Toyota with her family, and has just started to dip her toe into mountain biking (yikes!). She has lived for several years in South America and is fluent in Spanish.

My visit with Dr. Fuentes was truly exceptional. From the moment I stepped into his office, I felt completely at ease thanks to his warm and welcoming demeanor. Dr. Fuentes has a wonderful bedside manner - he is an excellent listener who makes you feel heard and understood. Prior to our appointment, he took the time to thoroughly review my medical history and asked me detailed questions about any new symptoms and concerns. I never once felt rushed. He explained everything to me in clear, easy-to-understand language, making sure I understood his thought process and reasons behind any recommendations. Throughout the appointment, he remained professional yet personable. Dr. Fuentes has a fantastic ability to put his patients at ease with his friendly manner. Dr Fuentes knew all the details of my Penrose ER visit on the holiday. He had table-top drawings that answered my questions before I asked them. We went over my new catheter removal for next week, my last radiation treatment next week, and the scheduled surgery follow-up appointment already scheduled in 4 months.

Dr Fuentes has been very informative about my prostate procedure and recovery. Even with a last minute equipment failure at the first scheduled hospital. They got me in at another one the same day and time.
This problem might be the Medical Company Dr. /Staff work for. TERRIBLE COMUNICATION! Every prescription have problems with getting anything filled because Doctor office do not return calls to Pharmacy. I thought it was the Pharmacy's fault. Changed Pharmacy provider.. Still a problem Changed Doctor thinking it was the office Still a problem Don't understand.. I can never reach a live person on phone and perscriptions is usually called in wrong.. Now Pharmacy is complaining they never recieve a return call from Doc office. Understaffed from Corporate?
I am confident it Dr. Fuentes ability to take care of my existing problem. I feel comfortable in has ability to perform this procedure.
