Scott Guess, MD, is a highly skilled ophthalmologist and retina specialist at Rocky Mountain Eye Center. He works with patients at the Missoula and Hamilton, Montana, locations - primarily practicing in the Missoula location.
Dr. Guess majored in biology and minored in chemistry at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and earned his medical degree from the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He completed an internship at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle before moving on to the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center’s Dean McGee Eye Institute, where he completed a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in vitreoretinal disease and surgery.
In his practice, he specializes in vitreoretinal surgery, cataract surgery, and the treatment of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Outside of his work at Rocky Mountain Eye Center, Dr. Guess is passionate about giving back to the world. In May 2008, he traveled to Chengdu, China, to provide help in earthquake relief efforts and teach ophthalmology residents.

My first meeting with Dr. Guess was the Spring of 2024 after my optometrist informed me that my cataracts had reached the stage of needing correction. This meeting was very professional and informative as to my options and how the process would proceed. During our brief visit immediately before surgery Dr. Guess was very open and informative regarding any questions that I had at the time. Overall a great experience with Dr. Guess and all of the staff at Rocky Mountain Eye Surgery Center.

Dr. Guess and Rocky Mountain Eye Center make you feel like you are their only patient.. Though they are busy you are treated like a good friend. 100% satisfied and going on 20 months of treatment. Dr. Guess takes the time to answer all your questions and explain treatment options. We live off-grid 3.25 hrs from Missoula and 1.25 hrs from Helena. As Dr. Guess is at the Helena location every 6 weeks we save 4 hours each appointment.. Not only the best medical option for your eyes but a doctor and staff that literally go the extra mile.
