About Sarah Moore, LMHC

Rooted in attachment and polyvagal theory, I believe that the therapeutic relationship established between the client and therapist is a significant piece of healing. A felt sense of safety in connection is where the magic happens.

I take a client-centered and collaborative approach. Which means, tell me what you think is beneficial for you because you know yourself best; but also, let’s utilize the knowledge I’ve gained as a licensed mental health counselor and work together to establish a path to healing.

Additionally, I am forever fascinated and intrigued by the complexities of the human brain. I find value in providing education about the biological components of the human brain as it relates to mental health. Couple that with a psychodynamic perspective which can bring awareness to patterns of thought and behaviors throughout the lifespan.

I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. I moved back to Iowa (Quad Cities) where I received my Masters in Counselor Education through Western Illinois University.

I am trained in EMDR and utilize that modality often. I pull from various therapeutic modalities to enhance the EMDR experience – IFS, CBT, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, mindfulness, and somatic psychology.

Areas of expertise include working with adolescents and young adults; in particular, those with complex trauma histories. In addition, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, ADHD, substance use, and adjustment disorders.
