Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Kwon graduated with honors in biology from Stanford University in California before returning home to finish his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark. He moved to Dallas to pursue his residency training in plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center before completing fellowship training in hand and microsurgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kwon has had a particular interest in hand trauma and reconstruction. This area of focus includes replantation (reattachment), nerve repair and reconstruction, tendon and nerve transfers, and brachial plexus surgery. In addition to practicing at Southwest Hand and Microsurgery, Dr. Kwon also has privileges at several area hospitals, including Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Medical City Plano, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, and Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery. Dr. Kwon also sees patients of all ages, including infants, at Medical City Dallas.

I cut the tip of my finger with a chainsaw with the tip dangling and Iwent to the Er at Texas Plano. The staff there took me immediately and were very attentive. They called Dr. Kwon and although it appeared at first the the fingertip wold be amputated, at further examination, Dr. Kwon thought he could reattach it. He did, quickly and efficiently, all the time smiling and being very personable. A week later, I saw him and the fingertip did "take", saved due to Dr. Kwon's decision to not amputated. I am appreciative and extremely grateful to this amazing doctor!
Very informing doctor. I didn't necessarily like what he had to say, but I believe he knew what would have to do in my issue. My wrist was worn out. He corrected the problem and it seems all will well in time. I would certainly use he again if needed.

Very good and thorough
I’ve used Dr. Kwon twice for both wrists and he’s wonderful. He answers your questions and his knowledge is far reaching. Given his experience in plastic surgery, the scar is barely noticeable. I would whole heartedly recommend him.
I would certainly recommend Dr. Kwon, as he is extremely knowledgeable, caring, and takes his time to explain everything. I appreciate his conservative approach and honesty! I can’t thank him enough for helping me with my hand. His staff is amazing and are so accommodating when it comes to the scheduling of appointments. I have never waited more than 2 minutes once I arrive at the office.

Great doctor and wonderful friendly staff
Great experience. Dr Kwan has done surgery on both my thumbs which were very painful and barely usable. Both are back to normal and pain free. Dr. Jean and his staff are extremely friendly and personable. I went in for a shot on a wrist issue (not associated with any of the previous surgery) and was in and out in 15 min. In the 3 years that I have seen Dr. Kwan I have never spent any time waiting in office like a lot of other Doctors I have been to. Highly recommend his practice
