Richard Petersen, OD, is a skilled and highly regarded doctor of optometry at Antelope Valley Optometric Center in Lancaster, California. Dr. Petersen specializes in comprehensive vision exams, contact lenses, eyeglasses, LASIK surgery co-management, eye care for children, and treatment of eye conditions like macular degeneration and astigmatism, as well as retinal diseases.
After beginning his education at Antelope Valley College, Dr. Petersen attended the University of California, Berkeley to complete his undergraduate degree. Dr. Petersen then worked as an optometric technician at Antelope Valley Optometric Center to gain valuable experience in optometry before attending the UC Berkeley School of Optometry, where he earned his doctor of optometry degree. Upon becoming an optometrist in 2006, Dr. Petersen rejoined the Antelope Valley Optometric Center.
Dr. Petersen loves his work at Antelope Valley Optometric Center, and he’s passionate about helping patients with all of their eye care needs. Absolutely great all the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I have never such a perfect exam totally thorough. The price was half the amount that lenses crafter had quoted me.

Always a great service. I have a small amount of experience with prescriptions and Dr. Petersen gets it right every time.
The Dr is very good and highly recommended him. The staff was great, and the first experience would have been awesome except for the staff with the Red Hair, she assisted me on picking glasses but she can be more friendly and use some smiles sometimes, she’s too serious and don’t give eye contacts and not even a tiny smile I got from her.
Dr Peterson is not only very personable, but he actually spends time explaining what is going on with your eyes at your level of knowledge. If I could give this doctor 20 stars, I would.

I had a follow up appointment with Dr. Peterson in regards to possible glaucoma. I was given a very thorough eye exam by Dr. Peterson and his assistant who was very patient with me because I am disabled and use an upright walker and needed assistance at times for various exams. Dr. Peterson listen to my concerns and valued my input. I was given my diagnosis and a detailed plan of care.

Dr Peterson and Jasmine conducted a very patient and thorough examination for me. I have some unique problems with my eyes and left feeling very well taken care of. Jewels helped me pick out frames for new Intermediate and Distance glasses that work well with my new over the ear hearing aids, and new lenses for my sunglasses. She was very professional, while having fun in the process. Tammy went the extra mile to repair/ replace my reading glasses frame that had broken. Support staff are great too. I have always had amazing care at AVOC and would recommend them to anyone.
