Paul Anton Michas, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with a passion for sports medicine, focusing on knee injuries and shoulder problems, as well as musculoskeletal trauma and fractures. He has practiced general orthopaedics at Orthopaedic Associates in Albany, Georgia, since joining the practice in 1999.
Dr. Michas’ interest in medicine began when he was still an undergraduate at Florida State University, where he studied psychology and biology. After graduating in 1988, Dr. Michas attended UHS/The Chicago Medical School and received a master’s degree in physiology. He went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1992 from the same school.
Upon graduation, Dr. Michas began a general surgery internship at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans before completing his orthopaedic surgery residency there in 1997. During his time at Tulane Medical Center, Dr. Michas rose to become the hospital’s chief resident of orthopaedic surgery.
After returning to his native Florida to practice for a couple of years, Dr. Michas relocated to Georgia and joined the Orthopaedic Associates team, where he continues to thrive and treat patients for an array of orthopaedic conditions and sports injuries.
Dr. Michas is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Medical Association of Georgia.
During his spare time, Dr. Michas loves weight training, water sports, and spending time at home in Lee County with his wife and three sons.

Dr. Michas showed me much compassion & also knowledge of what s going on with my left knee pain. He has in previous visits concerning the same knee shown much caring & professionalism in trying to diagnose & treat properly the knee problem. Dr. Michas is confident & his ability to build up hope in his patients adds to his ability to get them well again. My husband & I have been patients of Dr. Michas ‘ for years now. Dr. Mochas has been providing on going care since I did severe damage to my left hand. I broke one bone in my little finger and severely dislocated the joint behind that one. I completely dislocated the pulley in the finger next to the little finger. (No, I had never heard of a bone in the hand called a pulley either.) That required surgery to repair. The middle finger suffered torn ligaments. Those three fingers will no longer straighten out nor can I make a fist with that hand. My thumb and index finger are all that still work as they always have. The least little thing sets the other three into spasms of intense pain. The next step is hand therapy with specialist in the field. Dr. Micas is great at listening and explaining in terms that anyone can understand without talking down to you. He has a good sense of humor and helps keep you at ease throughout the process and this so far has been a long process. I would recommend him to anyone needing an excellent orthopedist. He and the entire practice there are stellar in their teamwork in taking care of all of your orthopedic needs. Tell them I sent you. It will not make any difference. It will let them know I care however.
