About Pankaj Bansal, MD

Pankaj Bansal, MD, is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. After completing his medical school in India, he came to the United States where he completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, IL, and fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR. He then moved to Eau Claire, WI where he worked as a Rheumatologist at the Mayo Clinic Health System, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. During his stay with the Mayo Clinic Health System, Dr. Bansal also served as the Department Chairman for the Department of Rheumatology at Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire. Dr. Bansal then moved to Florida with his family and established the Orlando Arthritis and Rheumatology Clinic while continuing to work for the Mayo Clinic Health System as a supplement Rheumatologist. Dr. Bansal specializes in managing various rheumatological disorders including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoporosis, gout, and others to name a few.

DDr. Bansal completed his ultrasound training with the Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists (USSONAR) and is certified by the American College of Rheumatology for performing diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and therapeutic procedures such as joint injections under ultrasound guidance.  Dr. Bansal is also a part of the USSONAR faculty and has been involved in teaching the art of musculoskeletal ultrasound to other physicians.

Dr. Bansal is a certified clinical densitometrist (CCD) and has a special interest in treating osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease. He is a member of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry and has been involved in many quality improvement projects to increase awareness about the treatment of osteoporosis in rheumatology clinics.

Dr. Pankaj Bansal has a strong interest in clinical research and teaching. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is currently involved in many research studies in association with the Mayo Clinic and the Johns Hopkins. He serves on the Editorial Boards for many peer-reviewed journals including the European Medical Journal - Rheumatology, Therapeutic Advances in Chronic Diseases - Rheumatology, and Wisconsin Medical Journal. He has been a part of the teaching faculty at the Family Medicine residency programs with Mayo Clinic Health System, Eau Claire and the University of Wisconsin and has presented many grand rounds on various rheumatological diseases.
