Neda Black, MD, FAAD, is a highly-regarded and well-trained double board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained dermatopathologist focusing on medical and cosmetic dermatology. Here, she was elected valedictorian for achieving the highest academic achievements of her medical school class. She received numerous other accolades and awards, including Highest Distinction, the American Medical Women’s Association Academic Achievement Award, the American Medical Association Clinical Award, and the American Medical Association Research Award. She was also inducted into the prestigious national medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha, widely considered the most prestigious award in medical school.
Dr. Black subsequently completed her residency training in dermatology at the University of Southern California, where she was elected to serve as Chief Resident of the program. Here she received extensive and in-depth training in all aspects of medical, surgical, cosmetic, and pediatric dermatology. After residency, she went on to complete a prestigious fellowship in dermatopathology under the direction of Loren Golitz, MD, at the University of Colorado Denver. This extra training has allowed her to develop special expertise in the microscopic diagnosis of skin cancer and skin disease.
Dr. Black has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and JAMA Dermatology. Her research generally focuses on skin cancer prevention and melanoma detection, and it has been frequently cited in the popular press, such as NPR, BBC News, Forbes, Huffington Post, and Medscape. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology. She is also on the medical staff at Huntington Hospital.
Dr. Black feels privileged to have the opportunity to care for her patients and has become an integral part of the medical community in the greater Pasadena area.
