I don't usually take the time to write reviews but Dr Aoyama deserves the recognition. I've been seeing him as my Optometrist for several years now and it's always a pleasant experience. He is very thorough and explains all test aShow morend results. Has very good suggestions for eye care. The lab they use for glasses are outstanding and able to produce lenses even with wrap sunglasses which many labs are not able to do.

Michael Aoyama, O.D., is a glaucoma-certified therapeutic optometrist at Stockdale Optometry. He is trained in the treatment and management of eye diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. He also has a special interest in family vision, geriatric care, and the preoperative and postoperative care of refractive and cataract patients.
Dr. Aoyama, who also goes by Dr. A, has deep knowledge in specialty contact lens fitting, and he’s proud to make Stockdale Optometry a leading resource for patients in need of specialty contacts. His areas of expertise include high astigmatism, rigid gas permeable lenses, and multifocal lenses.
Born in Tokyo and raised in Berkeley, California, Dr. Aoyama attended the University of California, Irvine, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. After completing his undergraduate education, he attended New England College of Optometry in Boston.
After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Aoyama was a resident in hospitals around the country, including Veterans Affairs hospitals in Fresno, California, New York, and Boston Community Health Center.
With experience in pediatric and geriatric eye care, Dr. Aoyama enjoys working with patients of all ages. When not practicing optometry, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and cheering on the Golden State Warriors.

Excellent exam and great explanations of results
1st time patient visiting for a routine eye exam and to purchase glasses. The experience from booking, confirmation, completing the medical questionnaire in office & appointment were all a breeze. The entire staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I was able to get glasses and shop the wide range of brands they offer. The employee helping me calculate prices was also extremely helpful and was able to break down all my options, coverages and differences in materials. Highly would recommend this optometrist to anyone! Thankyou

The final price was a sticker shock. I was not expecting the progressives to cost that much, but the experience in the office was good. The staff was nice and the doctor answered all of my questions.

As a NP, I thought everyone was very nice and thorough in explaining things, I wish the exam portion with the doctor went a little slower as felt rushed, but confident in the findings. Getting glasses thru Rueban was very helpful. He was patient and knowledgeable. My ins was only partially available, so had to pay for a lot of expense. Costs were expensive even after discount, but hopefully the two pairs of glasses purchased will be well worth the price. They are needed daily use items! Thank you and overall a very good experience.
Dr Bhutani was very thorough and articulate. I am very confident with her as my eye doctor.
