About Dr. Melissa Carris, PhD

Hi, I'm Dr. Melissa Carris, a clinical psychologist in Grand Junction, CO. I treat people dealing with occupational injuries (worker's compensation). Persistent pain, and the often traumatic nature of a work injury, can be difficult to handle. My goal is to help people learn ways to manage - or even resolve - their symptoms. I teach people about the neurophysiology of persistent pain and biopsychosocial factors they can address to better manage their symptoms and situation. I utilize Mindfulness-Based, Cognitive-Behavioral, Pain Reprocessing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and other somatic oriented therapies to help people increase their sense of influence over their experience and improve their quality of life. I am a Certified Pain Reprocessing Therapist, Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, Certified Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness provider, and Certified Empowered Relief Instructor.
