Mahendra Gunapooti, MD, is a certified physician specializing in pain management at Interventional Pain Management Services, with two offices in St. Louis and one in Granite City, Missouri. He strives to provide high-quality, individualized care for patients suffering from chronic lower back pain, neck pain, herniated discs, and more.
A graduate of Kasturba Medical College-Manipal University in India, Dr. Gunapooti ultimately relocated to the United States to complete his residency through the New York Medical College at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. He was later accepted into a fellowship program in anesthesiology through Temple University at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Since completing his fellowship, Dr. Gunapooti has treated a number of uncomfortable pain-related conditions, including back and neck pain, herniated or bulging discs, cervical radiculopathy, degenerative disc disease, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), postherpetic neuralgia, neuropathic pain, and arthritis pain. Using the latest treatment techniques and most advanced technology available, Dr. Gunapooti performs procedures that help alleviate pain and restore mobility and muscle function in his patients.
Dr. Gunapooti is just as concerned with what’s causing his patients’ chronic pain as with treating it. He takes pride in educating patients on their condition and getting to the root of the problem, rather than simply treating their symptoms. This philosophy pushes Dr. Gunapooti to not just address symptoms, but dramatically improve his patients’ overall quality of life.
