About Lynne Abbott

My background consists of working at Unity Point Cedar Rapids in the operating room, intensive care unit and cardiology clinic. After leaving Unity Point, I continued my career at Linn County Public Health working in the lead poisoning prevention program as well as becoming a certified asthma educator. I believe that there are multiple areas that contribute to overall health. Physical, mental, environmental, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being all come into play when talking about wellness. My focus is to offer an approach to care that takes all facets of a patient’s life into account, not just the physical body. I decided to pursue my degree as a family nurse practitioner because I like to build relationships with patients and work with them throughout the lifespan. I strive to help patients set goals and develop plans that fit their lifestyle. I enjoy working toward these goals with them and celebrating successes together.

Biopsy and excision of skin lesions

Incision and drainage of skin abscesses

Ongoing care of chronic problems/chronic care management

Physical exam for sports, school, and summer camps

Stitches and some urgent care needs

Preventative care, health screening, and physical exams for all ages

Routine care for women, including pap smears, pelvic and breast exams, and birth control

Treatment of complex and long-term medical conditions including diabetes and high blood pressure
