Dr. Fernandes is amazing. I expected a disappointing first visit, with forms, waiting and a cold, nearly disinterested meeting, orders for test and basically a big hole in my wallet with no real sense of progress. The entire staff is warm, friendly and caring. You can tell they are actually interested in your wellbeing and not just trying to get to the next appointment. Dr. Fernandes is a wonderful and engaging professional. It’s 100 mph, but it’s all great info and she listens. A practice that actually cares. Should be the model for “modern medicine”. Highly recommend!

Laura Fernandes, MD, FACC, is a practicing interventional cardiologist at Woodlands Heart and Vascular Institute, located in The Woodlands, Texas.
Dr. Fernandes has shared her expertise in the medical community for over 30 years and specializes in cardiology, interventional cardiology, and venous reflux disease.
Dr. Fernandes graduated from Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, as one of the top ten students in her class. After completion of her research assignment in rheumatology at the University of Pennsylvania, she fulfilled a three-year residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She relocated to the Houston area in 1997 to attend a cardiology fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine that she completed in June 2000. Immediately after that fellowship, she continued her training in interventional cardiology at The Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center. This fellowship was completed in June 2001.
Dr. Fernandes is a kind and compassionate doctor who treats each patient with patience and understanding. She counsels her patients on living a healthy lifestyle and coaches them on how to make good choices for their wellbeing. “No two patients are the same,” said Dr. Fernandes, “I treat each patient as an individual. I take the time to get to know my patients and their lifestyle, which assists me in making a more accurate diagnosis and treatment strategy.” She is focused on serving the cardiac needs of adult patients of all ages, advancing great cardiovascular health, and meeting the individual objectives of every patient.

Dr.Fernandes is a great doctor! She listens to your condition and gives very good advice. She is a very caring doctor. All of her staff is so nice and friendly!
Dr. Fernandes is very knowledgeable concerning the Heart. The biggest problem is the wait to see her. I have never, in all the years I have been seeing her, not had to wait. I have been called to a room, then sat there anywhere from 30 .minutes to over an hour. When I make an appointment I do not want to see her PA, I want to see her.

Dr Fernandes is a gem! I never needed a cardiologist before now, but I thank God for all the things she did on my behalf at a critical time when help was needed.
