July 10,2024 Dr Woods did surgery on my back, spinal stenosis! I don’t know the medical term but all I know is that after surgery, I was pain free instantly and I did not have one pain afterwards and am still pain free. I would Show morerecommend him as a surgeon and his facility and the wonderful people that took care of me! I love his bedside manner and love him as a surgeon. He also “fixed” my siactica during the surgery and I can’t say enough good things about him! If I ever need any more back surgeries, I won’t hesitate to go to him again! Vivian Gibson
I have a very serious issue that I’ve dealt with for for over 40 years. As a result, my spine is very distorted, and I’ve lost six inches in height. Surgery is not an option. Dr. Woods has suggested a procedure that would relShow moreieve pain, and I have gone through a week’s trial. Now it’s up to me to decide whether I want to go forward with this procedure. Dr. Woods is understanding of my hesitance and wants me to take some time to think about it: to be happy and confident in my choice. No pressure- I appreciate his understanding.

Dr. Woods earned his medical doctorate (MD) from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. Upon graduating, he completed his internship in general surgery and residency in neurological surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He then pursued his minimally invasive and complex spine fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He recently completed his Master of Business Administration at Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business in Baltimore, Maryland.
Prior to establishing Vertrae®, Dr. Woods worked in academic neurosurgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he taught medical students and residents. He moved with his wife and kids to Miamisburg, Ohio, to embrace the role of Network Medical Director of Neuroscience for a network of hospitals. Dr. Woods holds hospital appointments at several hospitals in the Great Dayton region. However, he is now an independent private practice neurosurgeon. He is a member of the Ohio State Medical Association, Ohio State Neurosurgical Society, North American Spine Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and California Medical Association.
As Dr. Woods recalls, it all started one Sunday afternoon in the fall of 2015 while chatting with his wife on an open terrace in Temecula Wine Country, Southern California. The weather was perfect! Beautiful vineyards provided the backdrop. Everyone was smiling and relaxed. Could we learn something from this experience that would inspire the way we deliver health care? It became their obsession to understand what experiences and emotions their patients really wanted and they promised to work as hard as they could to deliver such an experience. My surgery could not have gone any better. Everything was on time and went smoothly. Definitely a big plus to use Dr Woods surgery center vs a hospital! Dr Woods is very personable and explained exactly how the surgery would go. The surgery was only 50 minutes long and an hour in recovery, Amazing! My legs felt instantly better, no more numbness! Dr .Woods has been my doctor on a couple procedures and surgery. I would not trust anyone else. He along with his staff treat you as if they care about your health. They take the time with you and explain your condition and don't rush you through as looking for the next person like an assembly line. He is a good doctor who knows his skill. I would recommend him and would return to him if needed.
The healing process was slow. He is a reall y nice man. Perhaps I am too impatient?
Dr Woods & his staff go above and beyond to make sure you receive excellent care. Dr. Woods really treats you as if you were apart of his family. Besides some gaps in communication at times, he & his staff really work hard to resolve any issues or misunderstandings. My spinal cord stimulator trial procedure was without complications. Dr. Woods implanted the device quickly & accurately. I had no post procedure issues whatsoever. He & his nurses made every attempt to ensure I wouldn't feel much pain as much as possible..I would highly recommend Dr. Woods to anyone!

Arrived at Dr. Woods office at 10:45 am. for post surgery follow up appt. Met with Dr. Woods, all was good, Dr. Woods recommended a course of Physical Therapy, and will have evaluation on Sept. 20th to begin physical therapy.
Three years ago Dr.Woods 0perated on my back placing screws, rods, cage and metal disks which turned out to be a total success. Now 3 years later I have a sciatic nerve problem with chronic pain daily and I having Dr. Woods treat this problem. I totally trust him and would highly recommend him. .

I was very pleased with the way the appointment went. Dr. Woods suggested the Medtronic implant might relieve a good deal of my pain. I am eager to do the trial.
