Joy Carter, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified OB/GYN who provides outstanding care to women of all ages at Women’s Health Services. With more than 10 years of clinical experience, Dr. Carter provides a wide array of women’s health services to the communities of Arlington and Grand Prairie, Texas.
Dr. Carter is dedicated to patient education and strives to empower her patients to make informed decisions about their personal health. She offers warm, compassionate care during pregnancy and for conditions such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, uterine descensus, abnormal bleeding, and menopause.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in biology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, Dr. Carter earned a Master of Science in biological science from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She then earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where she also completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Carter is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and she is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She and her husband, Brian, have three children. In her leisure time, she enjoys knitting and outdoor activities such as camping and hiking.

It’s was good she was good at her job and was fast so I got out fast
While Dr.carter is good, I felt it was unfair that my husband and I took off work for them to tell me that they tried to call without leaving a voicemail, saying they needed more to have an actual prenatal appointment. I felt slighted like they did not care, and they just all told me. "answer your phone" work in healthcare so how can I answer my phone while I'm with patients, that why it is important to leave voicemails. Then I received emails confirming my appointment and telling me the address to go to but no emails saying to call them for the more information they needed.. I decided to go to a different doctor after this experience. i believe Dr.carter has a certain cliental she is more attentive and concerned with.
Always a pleasure seeing Dr. Carter! I've been a patient with her for the past 2 years now and the transition has gotten better ever since. It's always comforting to know your doctor is as invested in your health and overall wellbeing as you are. She is truly a Joy as is her name and sincerely cares about her patients and dedicated to her job. I hope to only continue my health journey with Dr. Carter by my side along the way!
Dr. Carter is always amazing and very knowledgeable of whatever issues that concern me. She has excellent bedside manner when it comes to me. I hope to have another baby after school and if she’s still around of course she’ll be delivering.

The Dr. was nice during my consultation. However, I left feeling rushed and uninformed in making a decision towards my treatment option. I was told consultation can only be 15 mins. With the current health state I'm in, desperately putting faith in this Dr. that my treatment works. It felt more like my only option.
