About Dr. Joseph G Wilson, DPM, FACFAS

 

 

Podiatrist Joseph G. Wilson, DPM, FACFAS joined Momentum Foot & Ankle Clinic in 2023 because his personal philosophy as a provider aligns with those of the practice. Dr. Wilson likes to put himself in the shoes of his patients and wants to understand their values and what drives them so he can respect their culture and customs during his treatment plan. He encourages his patients to write down questions in between appointments and wants to ensure they feel they have a voice during their sessions together.

Originally from Ottawa, Canada turned Naperville native, he is one of five children and describes himself as active and resourceful. Growing up he used to take care of his mother’s feet and it made him interested in pursuing medicine. He spent his earlier years shadowing different types of specialities and surgeons but it wasn’t until he met his older brother’s friend who was a podiatrist that the field really piqued his interest. 

Dr. Wilson went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science from Northwestern University and further pursued his podiatry training at Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago. After completing his surgical residency where he was chief resident at Mercy Hospital, Dr. Wilson practiced at another group for three years before joining Momentum Foot & Ankle Clinic. He holds board certification by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS).

Dr. Wilsonstrongly values the importance of listening to your patients and taking the time to get to know them. He believes obtaining past medical history can really open the window into a person’s story and provide clues that will help in creating a custom treatment plan that is catered to the individual and not a one size fits all answer. He joined the practice to bring back the old school style of providing healthcare where he puts the patients and their outcomes first.

When Dr. Wilson isn’t building a presence at the clinic, he enjoys playing badminton, ultimate frisbee and enjoying the outdoors through hiking and kayaking. He hopes to travel and visit more national parks in the coming years. Additionally he is involved in his church as a worship leader and in bible study and spending time with his family and friends. What drives him is providing the highest quality care to provide the best possible outcomes for his patients.
