Jon-Cecil (JC) Walkes, MD, is certified by The American Board of Thoracic Surgery and has been in practice since 2003. He is a long standing member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He sees patients at Texas Heart and Vein Multispecialty Group in Greater Heights, and Downtown, Houston, Texas.
Dr. Walkes has a long history of clinical excellence and previously served as an associate professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center and the director of the valve program at Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute – Texas Medical Center in Houston.
He attended Stanford University and graduated with honors in biology and humanities. Dr. Walkes then studied medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating with honors and his doctorate. After completing general surgery at Baylor University, he moved into the thoracic and cardiovascular residency at Baylor College of Medicine. While there, Dr. Walkes was a member of the Dr. Michael E. DeBakey Heart Team at Houston Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Walkes performs all types of adult cardiothoracic surgery and is nationally known for minimally invasive heart valve surgery. He helps train other surgeons and their teams in the area of minimally invasive valve surgery. Dr. Walkes is extensively published in the areas of valve surgery, cardiac tumor surgery, and cardiac trauma. He has an acute interest in limb salvage and has performed thousands of limb salvage surgeries to help patients heal wounds in the lower extremities.

Wonderful People every time I go for my appointment real polite and caring about me a my problem with my legs and type two diabetes.. wood reckermend everyone to go and see them if thay have the same problem that I have.. Wonderful Doctor and Nurse's there .John E Crosby

I had an appointment to see dr. Walkes. The had me their 3 hrs. Dr. WALKES was not their that day. The staff did not tell me he was not there. I would have rescheduled if i knew. The appt setter should have resheduled me. . HOWEVER Dr. WAlkes had nothing to do with it. Especially the staff telling me i needed to see dr. Walkes since i had a procedure a few weeks before and missed 2appts after. They gaslit me and pissed me off. Make it make since. I specifically asked 2 see 2drs the same day . 1 dr was there. Dr walkes was not. But they took my co pay for both drs. And knew 1 was not there. That does not sit well with me. And i felt mistreated.
The staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable.
I have to say that everyone was very nice. I loved Bert and Ana! they made me feel so comfortable. The doctor seemed very knowledgeable and explained my condition in layman’s terms. i would recommend this place. Amy Matassa

Great people very professional but still friendly and very caring. Always a pleasure to be seen and taken care of by Dr. Walkes and his staff. The procedure done on my legs returned my blood flow to normal. I can go for walks now with my wife. Ride my bicycle and do all the things I love. Just had a check up on my legs. Good to go. Dr. Walkes is very kind, easy to talk to. He is very Knowledgeable and Focused. It was obvious to me that he had studied my lengthy medical history and especially the ultrasounds of the day before he came in to see me. He said that I have very good blood flow in the arteries and veins of both legs. That was very good news to me. In 2015 another vascular doctor had told me that I had extensive reflux in the veins of both legs. Dr. Walkes said that I do not have reflux, that I no longer need to wear compression hose unless I am traveling a long distance, driving for hours at a time or may be away from home for several weeks. He also said that I do not have dried up black blood clots in my veins. I was told that in 2015. I had a very good discussion with Dr. Walkes and I was very happy when I left his office. I would also like to compliment the tech who did the ultrasounds. I think her name is Camille. She was very thorough, explained what she was doing, answered all my questions, and was very kind. I do not think that I have ever had such a thorough ultrasound of the veins and arteries in both legs. She studied the veins up and down in the right leg and then she did the arteries up and down in the same leg. I asked her how she knew the difference between the veins and the arteries through the skin and she told me about the difference in the colors/shades. She studied the veins and arteries in the left leg in the same way. It took 1& 1/2 hours and the probe(?) was very uncomfortable. However, the time and discomfort were well worth it. The results are amazing and I am very happy with my entire visit to the vascular
