About John Deschner, LCSW

I hold a Master of Social Work from Denver University, and a License for Clinical Social Worker since 2017. I have gone though many transitions in life, and am a good companion for anyone facing or already in a life change. I’ve been married, parent, divorced, single, atheist, believer, seeker, computer programmer, minister, caregiver, hospice SW, hospital SW (health changes, addictions, thoughts of suicide), … I was a Methodist minister (middle-of-the-road-leaning-progressive) in Louisiana where my views were not always welcome. I learned to work with and love people who are different from me, and learned to love myself. I’ve done counseling for many years as a pastor and social worker. I am a generalist rather than focused in one area. I am very non-judgmental! I care about people, not labels. My approaches are Cognitive (rethinking internalized views), Narrative (stories and imagination), Motivational (steps of change). I’ve done good work with couples and all ages.
