About Dr. Joey Ziegler, LAc

Joey Ziegler (he/him) is an acupuncturist at Zen Attitude Acupuncture in Seattle, WA. He embarked on his acupuncture journey while working as a receptionist at a community acupuncture clinic in Brooklyn. Witnessing the profound effects of acupuncture on individuals inspired him to delve deeper into this ancient practice. Over the years, his initial curiosity blossomed into a fervent passion, leading him to pursue formal education at the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine.

At the institute, Joey was exposed to diverse approaches in acupuncture, bodywork, and herbal medicine, shaping his holistic approach to healing. Drawing upon a fusion of these techniques, he places a strong emphasis on the art of palpation in his practice. Joey firmly believes in the innate wisdom of the body and the importance of listening attentively to its cues for healing.

For his doctoral research, Joey undertook the task of translating a significant medical Chinese text that delved into the intricate relationship between the circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids—a topic that has been notably underrepresented in the English language. This project not only left a profound impact on Joey's understanding of health and disease but also reshaped his diagnostic approach, particularly in the context of chronic and stubborn conditions.

Beyond his dedication to East Asian Medicine, Joey is an accomplished professional musician, lending his rhythmic talents to various bands in the vibrant Seattle music scene. He finds solace in nature, frequently engaging in qigong and taiji to cultivate balance and harmony in his life.

It is with great honor that Joey serves his community through acupuncture, a discipline that continues to captivate and inspire him every day. Driven by a passion for advancing medical knowledge and promoting dialogue within the healthcare community, Joey aspires to publish his translated work in a reputable medical journal.
