He utilizes robotics (MAKO) and computer navigation, as well as muscle sparing direct anterior hip replacements with the HANA table. Many patients can go home the same day after a hip or knee replacement. The remaining patients are usually 23 hour stays with a discharge to home. Advanced anesthetic techniques, local anesthetic blocks, and non-narcotic medications are used to minimize post operative pain and accelerate recoveries. Dr. Buchalter also performs shoulder replacements, hip and knee revisions, and arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He has been consistently awarded top doctor from Castle Connolly and NY Top Docs since 2012, as well as many other awards.
Dr. Buchalter graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. He went on to earn his medical degree from New York University Grossman School of Medicine and completed his internship in general surgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center. He then completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases (now called The NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital) where he served as Chief Resident.
