Dr. Rapkin provides care involving the latest advances in the treatment of diseases including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachment. He also treats retinal vascular diseases including complications of hypertension, circulatory problems, and inflammatory diseases.
Dr. Rapkin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Premedical Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He served his internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital as well, and he served as Chief Resident while there. He performed a fellowship specializing in surgery of the retina and vitreous at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. Dr. Rapkin has practiced ophthalmology in Muncie and Richmond, Indiana since 1996. Dr. Rapkin continues to be a leader in ongoing research and development of state-of-the-art treatments for diseases of the eye. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Indiana State Medical Association.
Dr. Rapkin is a member and the past-president of Muncie Sunrise Rotary. He has served on the board of directors of Muncie Symphony Orchestra, Muncie Civic Theatre, and East Central Indiana Therapeutic Riding, Inc.

I’ve had several appointments now with Dr Rapkin. He’s professional, kind & experienced. He caught an issue with my eye & treated it quickly. Dr Rapkin is “to the point” and very thorough. He takes time to answer your questions & explains what he’s doing. Office staff are nice too.
He was very professional and answered my questions that I had and also my concerns.. I felt at ease with during the whole appointment..
I was afraid. My parents had Macular Degeneration. I was with them and watched some of their treatments. A new onset of vision problems came on quick. I would’ve waited a week for my initial assessment, they called with an opening and I was seen 4 days earlier. All of the staff were great. They know their profession and work well as a team. Dr Rapkin was thorough. He explained all my test and what that meant for now and the future. I am so grateful to be a new patient. I know I’m in safe and caring hands!
Dr. Rapkin is a Very knowledgeable & professional eye doctor. He clearly explained the eye issues that my husband is having in a clear & sympathetic manner. I also appreciated his acknowledgment of me, looking directly at me & including me in his examination & explanation of his diagnoses. I find that many doctors ignore or barely acknowledge the wife. Very rude. To conclude, both my husband & myself have complete confidence in Dr. Rapkin.
