About Dr. James Sykes, DO

James Sykes, DO, is an anesthesiologist and pain management physician who has been serving patients for over 30 years at Metro Anesthesia & Pain Management with offices in West Des Moines and Des Moines, Iowa.

Dr. Sykes completed his Pharmacy degree at Drake University.  He was a practicing pharmacist for three years before going back to medical school. Dr. Sykes obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa, where he is currently an adjunct professor. After graduating, he completed his residency training in anesthesiology at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. 

Dr. Sykes also performs anesthesia at the SCA Surgery Center and Wolfe Eye Clinic in West Des Moines, Iowa. He is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Anesthesiology.
