Irene Rusu, MD, is a fellowship-trained surgical and medical retinal specialist at Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Chicago in Illinois. Dr. Rusu completed her ophthalmology residency at the New York University School of Medicine and her fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College/NY Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Rusu is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her research interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases. She has published, researched, and presented at national conferences of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Rusu has received numerous awards for her research, including the University of Chicago Ophthalmology and Visual Science Award for outstanding performance in ophthalmology.

Smooth injection
I would highly recommend Dr. Rusu. My experience with her was amazing. She is so kind, caring and knowledgeable. She takes her time and addresses any concerns and questions you may have. My follow up with her in her other office was just as amazing.
Great experience. Knowledgeable and professional staff. From entering and engaging with desk-personal (with a good sense of humor) up to and including Dr. Irene Rusu, MD everything went smooth. Every step was being explained in what to do and it all was one well oiled machine with all personal being great and friendly. Definitely a good place to be when you are scared of what might be going on with your eye(s).
