I did not like that the office was late. They made 2 8:15 appointments and the secretary came at 8:20. The doctor comes at 9:00. Today she was also late. So dont take an early morning appointment.. Irene Rusu, MD, is a fellowship-trained surgical and medical retinal specialist at Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Chicago in Illinois. Dr. Rusu completed her ophthalmology residency at the New York University School of Medicine and her fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College/NY Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Rusu is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Her research interests include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases. She has published, researched, and presented at national conferences of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Rusu has received numerous awards for her research, including the University of Chicago Ophthalmology and Visual Science Award for outstanding performance in ophthalmology.

I would highly recommend Dr. Rusu. My experience with her was amazing. She is so kind, caring and knowledgeable. She takes her time and addresses any concerns and questions you may have. My follow up with her in her other office was just as amazing.

I had an emergency retina operation and was lucky that Dr Rusu had an opening Dr Rusu was calm, patient with my concerns and questions, and reassuring regarding my anxieties

The best doctor and staff in brooklyn. The staff here is awesome. Everyone is helpful polite and professional. Dr Russu is a caring,empathetic retina specialist who puts the care and well-being of her patients first. I can't say enough good things about her and the staff there.
