Plus he uses common sense when practicing. No expensive tests, just a reassuring man telling me all will be fine! Such a fabulous doctor! And his staff is top notch. Gaston Perez, MD, FAAFP, FAARFM, is the founder and owner of Global Family Medicine and Urgent Care in Bluffton, South Carolina. He is also the medical director of Hospice Care of South Carolina in Beaufort. With more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Perez is board certified in family medicine and anti-aging, regenerative, and functional medicine.
Dr. Perez received an Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy at the Respiratory Therapy Institute in Miami, Florida, and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies at Miami-Dade Community College in Miami.
While studying medicine at CETEC University School of Medicine and Universidad Centro de Investigación (CIFAS) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Dr. Perez completed an externship in nephrology, emergency medicine, radiology, and pediatrics. He earned his medical doctorate from the University Eugenio Maria de Hostos in Santo Domingo.
Dr. Perez has worked in critical and intensive care units throughout the United States. He furthered his training by completing a family medicine internship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.
Before establishing Global Family Medicine and Urgent Care in 1995, Dr. Perez worked as an emergency room physician and medical director of several hospice and recovery centers.
Dr. Perez takes a preventive approach to care at Global Family Medicine and Urgent Care. He offers a variety of acute and urgent care services for patients of all ages, including treatment for skin rashes, UTIs, and strep throat.
Dr. Perez is committed to running a versatile practice. He provides a selection of anti-aging treatments like nutrigenomics and Protandim® Nrf2 Synergizer™, which stimulate antioxidant production. He also performs vitamin therapy to increase patients’ micronutrient levels and offers Suboxone® as a treatment for addiction.
Dr. Perez is a fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is also on the National Board for Respiratory Care.
Outside of work, Dr. Perez is passionate about staying healthy and active. He’s also a proud U.S. citizen who speaks fluent Spanish and English.

My prescription was denied again for being too soon. They said I would have to have it resent. This is difficult to deal with every month but maybe after the holidays things will settle down a bit controlled substance or not. It’s a shame people have demonized these drugs that work. It seems big pharma would rather you be on an ssri even though you can become just as dependent on them. All about the money.

Dr. Perez is an excellent doctor for my husband and me. He cares about his patients and works hard to make sure their medical needs are met. His bloodwork review with his patients is above average; he goes over every single item on the extensive bloodwork report and explains why he recommends any healthcare changes. We love him.
