Dr. Elizabeth Marie Alston Ottey was born and raised in Burlington, North Carolina. She attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Minor in Women Studies in 2010. In 2013, she received her Master of Health Science from Meharry Medical College. In 2017, Dr. Ottey graduated from Meharry receiving the distinguished honor of graduating at the top of her class.  In spring 2020, Dr. Ottey received her Master’s in Biomedical Science and a Specialist Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Maryland.

Dr. Ottey is very dedicated to giving back to the community especially in helping young people.  In 2019, Dr. Ottey was honored by Unified Efforts for her mentoring of young people by being named Baltimore’s Shining Star.

In May 2020, Dr. Ottey was recognized for her dedication to the University of Maryland Baltimore’s core values by winning the 2020 Presidential Core Values Award for Diversity.

Dr. Ottey is a member of the American Association of Orthodontist and American Dental Association. Dr. Ottey is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics

Dr. Ottey is married to Orbie E. Ottey, DDS and they have one dog, Scotch. In her leisure time, Dr. Ottey enjoys singing, working with, and mentoring young people. She particularly loves entertaining and spending time with her family and friends.
