Orthopaedic surgeon Douglas Fauser, MD, FAAOS, FACS, is a founding partner of Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group. He sees patients at the practice’s locations in Carmel and Newburgh, New York, and Danbury, Connecticut.
Dr. Douglas Fauser graduated from New York University School of Medicine in 1982. Following graduation, he pursued a two-year general surgery residency at the Wilmington Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware. Upon being accepted to the orthopaedic surgery program at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan, he spent four years training there, finishing in June 1988. At the Hospital for Joint Diseases, Dr. Fauser met and worked with his lifelong professional partner, Joel Buchalter. Together, they formed Somers Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Group. Over 30 years later, this group has developed into being the premier orthopaedic surgical group in Northern Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties.
Dr. Fauser is a four-time diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York University School of Medicine and is a former team physician of Pace University. He has held privileges at The Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute, Northern Westchester Hospital, and Putnam Hospital Center, where he formerly served as Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as Co-Director of the Orthopaedic Institute. He is a member of the American Hip and Knee Society, American Fracture Association, Westchester County Medical Society, and the New York Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Fauser practices orthopaedic surgery with an emphasis on sports medicine and joint replacement surgery. His approach throughout his more than 30 years of practice has been to strive for the highest quality surgical procedures that have a time-tested, proven, and exceptional level of success in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible for the benefit of all of his patients.
