Dr.Chris James explained me my diagnostic of the XRays that I had on the office.Because I’m a diabetic patient he asked me if I can handle my sugar levels on control because the Cortisone Injection is what he recommend and is a goShow moreod one for my right knee pain. I told him that I can handle and also explained to my endocrinologist. He told me to call for an appointment if I still have pain or other issues. I felt that he cares for the patients feelings and pain. I felt happy about that and the same day I got evaluated he put me the Cortisone Injection.
Dr. James is a wonderful doctor. I had both my knees done. I could hardly walk with all the pain and crookedness of my legs. I am now walking and hiking daily and chasing my four, under 5 year old grandchildren!) My husband alShow moreso had one knee done. He still referees soccer games without any problems. We are both in our late 60’s! Dr. James also has a very nice bedside manner and takes the time to listen and respond to our questions! We highly recommend him!
Christopher “Chris” James, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedic Specialists. He is proud to serve patients throughout Palm Harbor, Florida.
A Tampa native, Dr. James is a graduate of Jesuit High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University, where he played for the football team as a wide receiver. He went on to complete medical school at Saint George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, and in select New York City area hospitals.
Dr. James completed orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Missouri - Columbia, followed by a fellowship in hip and knee replacement in Chicago’s Northshore University Health System. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. James has had extensive training in all aspects of both operative and nonoperative orthopedics. His primary interest is adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery that entails both primary and revision procedures. At Orthopedic Specialists, Dr. James performs a variety of procedures, including hip and knee replacements, knee arthroscopy, periprosthetic fracture surgery, and knee and joint injections, to name a few.
He has been trained in the most advanced joint replacement surgery, including computer- and robotic-assisted techniques that allow for enhanced recovery and improved function. Dr. James uses minimally invasive approaches for his knee replacements and both muscle-sparing direct anterior as well as a mini posterior hip approach.
In his spare time, Dr. James enjoys trying to impress his friends and family with his culinary skills. As a former Purdue football wide receiver, he enjoys cheering for all Boilermakers sports. He also is a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Dr James was professional, caring, and respectful. He took time to explain why I was having so much knee pain. Dr James reviewed my x-rays with me and discussed treatment options in layman’s terms without talking down to me. I had a steroid shot administered by Dr James, and again, he explained what he was doing and what the expected realistic outcomes could be. Thank you Dr James!

I went to see Dr. James for my 2 year post op check up, for my hip surgery, It all went very well. Since my surgery was quite successful, there were no issues at this visit, after the Dr did a clearance check all is well. I highly recommend Dr. James and Ortopedist Specialist practice.

Everything went according to what I was told. The whole process was smooth, from the initial meeting with Dr. James to hospital prep, surgery at Advent in Tarpon Springs, home health care and finally PT. After four weeks the x-ray of my replacement looked perfect. I was lucky to require only a partial replacement and I was off the cane and walking well in three weeks. The whole process could not have gone better.
