Chika Kuwama, MD, is an experienced family medicine specialist. She currently sees patients at Hibari Family Medical in Edgewater, New Jersey.
Dr. Kuwama graduated from the Tokyo University School of Medicine. She trained in the internal medicine department at the University of Tokyo Hospital. After that, she worked at the former Social Insurance Central Hospital (now Tokyo Yamate Medical Center).
After staying in New York for three and a half years, Dr. Kuwama worked at the Tokio Marine Building Clinic (Shinjuku/Marunouchi). After returning to New York, she completed the family medicine residency program at Mount Sinai Beth Israel - Hospitalists Program in New York City, New York. She became a board-certified physician by the American College of Family Medicine.
Dr. Kuwama has been practicing as a family physician at Edgewater Family Care Center in New Jersey for the past 17 years. In September 2020, she was named director of Hibari Family Medical.

Since day one, many years ago, I have met Doctor Kuwama. it s been so reassuring to have such nice Doctor that Takes her time, listen to your concerns and would advised you clearly on what should, could or must be done for your own good. Doctor Kuwama made me feel very confortable from day one. She s the best, I certainly recomend her. I would add the staff there is also very nice.
Highly recommended, everyone are professional and friendly. The clinic is clean and neat. And they are always give me a details annual Check up repot as I requested.
After being sick for a couple of months, talking to different doctors, and being in the emergency room three times I found Dr. Kuwama. I’ve been her patient for the past 9 years. She is very professional, knowledgeable, attentive and pleasant which makes me feel comfortable and confident with her diagnosis and care. She takes the time to explain the results in a way I can understand. Overall a great doctor. The staff is very helpful and the offices are clean. I highly recommend her practice.

Dr. Kuwama was very nice. She listened to my 11yo son very patiently and explained him what’s going on in details. She respected his preferences of treatments, so he was able to trust her. Her staff were all nice, and the prescription was sent right away to our pharmacy so that the medicine was ready when we got there. Thank you so much for the great experience!
