About Dr. Chen

Carol Chen, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. With over eight years of clinical experience, she provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management to support individuals struggling with anxiety, OCD, ADHD, mood disorders, and trauma. She sees patients at Bowman Medical Group in Beverly Hills, California.

Dr. Chen earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed her general psychiatry residency at the University of California, Davis. She pursued advanced training in child and adolescent psychiatry through a fellowship at Harbor-UCLA. She is board-certified in Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Chen served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan, where she was a key member of the Childhood Anxiety and OCD team.

Dr. Chen takes a holistic and collaborative approach to psychiatry, integrating biological, psychological, and social factors to develop individualized treatment plans. Her areas of expertise include anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, ADHD, tic disorders, and student mental health. She incorporates a variety of evidence-based treatments, including psychopharmacology, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She collaborates closely with psychotherapists to ensure comprehensive care.

Dr. Chen is actively involved in psychiatric research and education. She has published an article on “Challenges and Pearls of Evaluation and Treatment of Youth with Scrupulosity OCD.” Additionally, she was a Grand Rounds guest speaker at Trinity Health Center’s Pediatric Department, where she discussed best practices in youth mental health care.

Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Dr. Chen is passionate about working with individuals from multicultural backgrounds. She provides support for acculturation struggles, intergenerational challenges, and the psychological impact of immigration on families, fostering culturally sensitive care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Dr. Chen is dedicated to helping patients achieve long-term mental wellness and looks forward to working with both new and returning patients at Bowman Medical Group.
