Brad Carofino, MD is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Shoulder and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Carofino is among a small number of orthopaedic surgeons in the country with dual fellowship training in both Shoulder Surgery and Hand Surgery, which allows him to care for the entire spectrum of upper extremity injuries. He is also the only surgeon in the Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, Virginia areas who has completed a Shoulder surgery fellowship.
A regional leader in shoulder surgery, Dr. Carofino currently performs over 150 shoulder replacements per year. This is the highest volume of any surgeon in the Hampton Road’s area and among the top 5% nationally. Dr. Carofino is also highly skilled in minimally invasive shoulder surgeries such as rotator cuff repairs, labral repairs and superior capsular reconstruction. Dr. Carofino is a team physician for the Norfolk Tides and serves as a consultant to Norfolk State University athletic department. Clinical research is a passion of Dr. Carofino’s and he is committed to developing better techniques to treat shoulder and upper extremity injuries. Excellent PA. Great first visit
Dr. Carofino was very detailed when explaining so that I can understand the outcome.
I needed to call and let someone know I would be about 5 mins late. The number that is provided to make changes does not get through to any of the receptionists. Instead it tells you the office is closed until 8, which was the time of my appointment. Your business is clearly open before 8. The number “you guys” ( cause idk who set it up) provide helps no one for early appointments. Luckily on this day i was not the only one with this problem. A lady uses that number, got misled as I did, I was told she needed to reschedule. Thankfully she complained enough to get seen. That’s terrible.

Dr. Brad asked me questions, and he gave me feed back when I asked him questions too. He was very patient and kind. Dr. Brad explain to me that my spine was good. He then gave me the results from the X-ray, and he made sure I understood him. Dr. Brad stated what kind of medication he was going to start me with first, and he referred to a physical therapist for two weeks. Dr. Brad also stated if the medication he gave me today does not work with Physical Therapy, then he will give me a Cortisone medication. Dr. Brad said that surgery will be the last resort and I agreed with him. I gave him 5 stars today. This was my first visit with him.
Great new check-in process. Slightly longer wait then I had hoped but once I was called back smooth sailing from there. Busy practice but very well run. From front desk to ancillary staff and then Dr Carofino...great experience from all.
I was extremely pleased with Dr. Carofino's evaluation of my shoulder injury. The likely diagnosis and next steps were clearly explained. The office staff and his assistant Brice were very friendly and helpful. The experience was efficient, friendly and comfortable from start to finish. Highly recommend!

I only gave 4 stars was because of the wait time but then I was a new patient and was able to get an appointment within a few days. I was very pleased with Dr. Carofino's PA who was very professional and explained why I was having the problem with my thumb. Dr. Carofino was also very professional and personable. I was pleased with his diagnosis and treatment and will be happy to give any referrals.
