About Alexis Montgomery, MS CCC-SLP

Alexis is a pediatric speech-language pathologist at Express Yourself Therapy’s Kensington, MD branch. She earned her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from George Washington University, her Certificate in Early Intervention from Georgetown University and her Bachelor of Arts in Hearing and Speech Sciences from the University of Maryland. 

 Alexis has earned her DIRFloortime® Advanced Certificate and Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist title. Alexis is one of the only therapists in the DMV area trained in the DIR-Selective Mutism approach. Alexis has taken courses in Natural Language Acquistion for Gestalt Language Processors. She also holds an Introduction to PROMPT Certification. Alexis specializes in supporting selective mutism, gestalt language processing, autism, precursory language skills, fluency disorders, social/pragmatic communication, and speech sound disorders.  

Alexis is a patient, flexible, and energetic clinician. She was driven to pursue Speech-Language Pathology to establish connections with clients and make therapy filled with joy. Alexis loves facilitating client-centered activities to support children in robustly engaging in their natural social environment. Alexis loves to include family and caregivers in their child’s sessions. She is not afraid to be silly or jump right into any play. 

In her free time, she loves going to the beach, hiking, spending time with her family and playing with her dogs!
