I can't express enough how grateful I am for Dr. Afia Umber. From the moment my mom became her patient, Dr. Afia treated her with an unparalleled level of care and compassion. It honestly feels like I found not only a skilled Show moredoctor but also a sister, someone who truly watches over my mom’s health as if she were her own mother. This is my husband's first visit with Dr Umber and her staff. Everyone is absolutely amazing. Professional, caring, and polite. Especially the nurse who did his I V. Dr. Afia Umber has joined our esteemed team as of recently.
She received her medical degree from Dow medical university 1998.
After medical school, she did internships in pediatrics, emergency room, and orthopedics.
After that, she pursued further education in US.
She finished her Internal Medicine residency at Alameda county Medical Center, Oakland, California in 2008.
She served as faculty at University of North Texas and has been actively involved in teaching medical students and Internal medicine trainees .
Her training was further enriched by nephrology, hypertension, and kidney transplant fellowships.
She also served as faculty at UT Southwestern and Parkland hospital in the department of internal medicine and Nephrology.
She holds board certifications in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology along with certification from American Society of transplantation.
She is also Wound care and point of care ultrasound certified.
Dr. Umber brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise due to her extensive training and work experience in different patient care settings, including inpatient, outpatient, urgent care and emergency room.
Notably she is fluent in English,Urdu , Hindi along with conversational Arabic and Spanish.

I had an excellent experience at this office. They were very caring, professional and thorough. They were able to give me new medicine for my condition and give me a couple of shots which were very helpful. I plan on going back for my medical needs.

I've been to several urgent care clinics and have been seen by many doctors throughout my life. America First Urgent Care and Primary Care really made me feel welcomed and not like just a number. I feel like they sincerely care about my health and well-being. I highly recommend them as both and urgent care or primary care provider. This is what I think medicine should be about.
The most caring and understanding staff. They always fit me in.
Initially used them for an ER visit. Very friendly staff. Dr. Umber seems quite knowledgeable. Had a long wait when I came back for my follow-up and they're not overly knowledgeable about how Medicare works but they were willing to try to figure out how to work with it. Dr Umber is an Internist and Nephrology specialist. Will use again for similar needs.
One of only two urgent cares or honestly any medical centers in the last decade where I felt the doctor, nurse, and staff truly listened and cared for me as a patient. Wonderful people, very welcoming atmosphere, unlike honestly 99.999% of the urgent cares out there. If you're tired of being treated like a machine in other urgent cares, please go to America First. You will be pleasantly surprised by how much better the experience is here.

Dr. Umber is the best doctor ever! I have a complicated health history and she spends so much time with me each and every visit trying to come up with creative solutions to my health challenges. She has the most compassionate and kind bedside manner! I am so grateful for her. She has kept me out of the hospital many times by caring for me in her office ( sometimes for hours ) which is such a blessing! I drive from Southlake to see her and I recommend her to everyone I know!

Dr. Umber has taken the most extraordinary care of my mom since she was hospitalizated for an acute kidney crisis . My mom and I are both nurses so we were amazed when she gave us her personal cell number. She has been thorough, attentive and thoughtful in her treatment of my mom. She has been responsive to our questions and requests in person, through the office and on the phone. She has treated my mom with the utmost respect and helped get her past the crisis. We highly recommend her!
